KEITH Southern says it is “ridiculous” to suggest off-pitch issues have affected Pool’s promotion charge.
The midfielder insists the recent run of bad results is just a minor wobble and remains convinced the Seasiders are well capable of a play-off finish.
However, he admits Saturday’s home Championship match against Brighton is crucial.
Southern said: “We are getting to the business end of the season now, where every point is vital.
“We have to put a marker down at the weekend, when we have an opportunity to take the scalp of a team up there alongside us.
“It is a massive game, not quite a must-win yet because there will still be nine games after it, but with the league tightening up and some clubs having a game in hand, we’ve got to be looking at getting three points on the board, especially at home.”
Last night’s games saw Pool slip a further spot to ninth, though they remain just one point outside a play-off zone which now contains Hull after their 3-0 win at Cardiff. Reading moved into the automatic promotion spots with a draw at Doncaster.
