0-0 Billy Clarke MISSES!!

To penalties we go.

113 mins: A moment of magic by Tom Barkhuizen almost broke the deadlock. The young showed brilliant pace and skill to burst into the box before firing just wide.

111 mins: Billy Clarke is booked for kicking the ball away.

108 mins: Cecil Nyoni has Sheffield Wednesday’s best chance of the game, should have hit the target from eight yards.

107 mins: Bob Harris has been in the wars tonight. The full-back, who has impressed so far, has been down with cramp and now has blood running down his face after a clash of heads. What a debut.

106 mins: The night gets longer. Another free-kick for Blackpool in a decent area, this time Billy Clarke fired high over.

HALF-TIME OF EXTRA TIME: Sheffield Wednesday 0 Blackpool 0

105 mins: Two minutes time added on.

104 mins: Gerado Bruna has a 12-yard effort deflected over.

102 mins: Seems like both teams are settling for penalties here. Not much action in front of goal at all.

94 mins: Tom Barhuizen just about sums-up Blackpool’s evening in front of goal. He burst forward before trying on from the edge of the box only to scuff it miles wide.

90 mins: Gerado Bruna comes on for his debut to replace Craig Sutherland.

Sheffield Wednesday 0 Blackpool 0 - extra time

Quite how Blackpool haven’t scored tonight i’ll never know. Pool have missed chance after chance and the late sending off of Ashley Eastham makes for a tricky extra time period for the Seasiders.

83 mins: Double substitution for Blackpool. Miguel Llera replaces Chris Basham for his debut and Tom Barkhuizen comes on for the lively Tom Ince.

81 mins: This game has extra-time written all over it. (Hopefully that will jinx things.)

78 mins: Ashley Eastham is sent off for a reckless challenge. The youngster, who has had a good game, lunged into a tackle and will have very few complaints.

76 mins: A MASSIVE chance for Blackpool is fired wide by Billy Clarke. Ince broke away down the left and crossed into the path of Clarke who slotted wide when he really should have scored.

73 mins: I sound like a broken record here, but another chance for Blackpool. This time Chris Basham burst forward before firing just wide from the edge of the box.

72 mins: Good work from Ludo Sylvestre found Sunderland in on goal, but the striker could only side foot into the hands of the keeper. Yet another chance missed for Blackpool.

68 mins: Yet another chance goes begging for Blackpool. Chris Basham again burst down the right before cuttting the ball back into the path of Sutherland who fired straight at the keeper.

Had Blackpool’s finishing been sharper tonight this game would have been dead and burried.

65 mins: Free-kick to Blackpool 25 yards from goal. After a bit of a row over who would take it, Neal Eardley fired well over.

63 mins: First effort on goal from Sheffield Wednesday.....but it came from Blackpool’s Bob Harris. The full-back accidentaly fired the ball towards his own goal, forcing Mark Halstead into a save.

61 mins: Another half-chance for Blackpool, again fired straight at the keeper though. This time it was Tom Ince after a neat turn and shot from 10 yards.

56 mins: First chance of the second half as Craig Sutherland races onto a through ball and fires at O’Donnell. Decent save.

55 mins: Well we’ve had ten minutes of second half action here, and nothing at all has happened. I won’t be asking for the DVD of this game for Christmas!

45 mins: No changes for either side at the break.

Decent half for Blackpool who had the bulk of the play. Despite all of the long-range effort, only once was the Wednesday keeper tested.

Encouraging for Ian Holloway.

46 mins: Hesitation at the back from Sheffield Wednesday allowed Sutherland to nip in and fire wide from 6 yards. Bright play from the striker.

45 mins: Four minutes added time.

42 mins: Blackpool starting to dominate here. This time Billy Clarke turned on 18 yards before firing straight at Richard O’Donnell in the Owls’ goal.

40 mins: Another long range effort from Blackpool at they begin to dominate. This time the ball fell to Bob Harris 30 yards from goal, his shot was high and wide.

38 mins: Superb move for Blackpool involving Ludo Sylvestre and Billy Clarke ended with Neal Eardley seeing his 18 yard volley deflected wide. Much better from the Seasiders.

35 mins: Nice and bright by Blackpool’s second string so far, no real cutting edge though.

28 mins: Neal Eardley thunders a ball just wide from 25 yards after a mazy run from Tom Ince was cleared.

25 mins: Let-off for Blackpool as Mark Halstead’s punch fell to a Sheffield Wednesday striker who could only scuff it back towards goal.

22 mins: Uneventful opening 20 minutes here. As for the new boys, Bob Harris has started well, Tom Ince has looked lively and when Angel has had the ball, he’s kept it well. Nothing else to report.

16 mins: Long rang effort from Billy Clarke drifts well wide.

11 mins: Tom Ince shows the first glimpse of what might be to come in a Pool shirt. The winger twisted and turned on the left before crossing towards Sutherland who miskicked wide. Great play from Ince.

6 mins: Decent move for Blackpool saw Chris Basham burst down the right and whip a ball across the box, sadly no Pool striker was there on the end of it.

5 mins: Steady start to the game by Blackpool’s young guns. Everyone getting a feel for the ball and Mark Halstead in goal will feel better for a decent catch from a left-wing cross.

0 mins: Sheffield Wednesday kick-off in front of an empty stadium. Feels like a reserve game, very strange.
