BLACKPOOL are no closer to adding a striker to their squad, despite reports claiming otherwise.
National media reports claimed the Seasiders were close to signing Nottingham Forest’s Ishmael Miller.
The Gazette understand that a deal is unlikely, although Ian Holloway has enquired about the star.
Miller fits the bill as the sort of big target man the Pool boss is hoping to add, but Holloway looks like missing out on the former West Brom man.
One striker who has arrived at Bloomfield Road is Nouha Dicko. The Frenchman has returned to the club from Wigan, this time on a season-long loan, and scored in the win over Leeds on Tuesday.
And he’s delighted with the start he’s made.
He said: “It’s important that we begin the season well and I’m delighted that we managed to continue that against Leeds.
“When I came on, the manager stood with me on the touchline and said he wanted me to attack through the middle and get into the spaces in behind.
“But when you play football you don’t always have to talk a lot. I knew what I had to do and that I had to cause them problems.
“Last season was a very good experience for me here, so I’m glad to be back.
“I scored a few goals last season and it was a great moment for me with Blackpool.
“I hope to play as many games as possible, score as many goals as I can and fire the mighty Blackpool back into the Premier League. Each year you want to improve, so I hope I’m going to play more regular first-team games, start more games and do well for Blackpool.”
“I really like the style we played – to pass the ball and play very attacking football. I hope we’ll do it again this season and have a better end than last season,” he added.
