Blackpool young gun Matt Phillips is learning a lesson from the Premier League’s elder statesman Ryan Giggs as he looks to hit the ground running at the start of the Championship campaign in August.
Giggs, 40 in November and who has recently signed a one-year contract with Manchester United, has gone on record as saying that yoga has helped his remarkable longevity in the top flight.
And now the specialist exercise form with it origins in India has been introduced into the training regime of the Blackpool players currently training in Portugal.
Scottish international Phillips is a willing convert to the benefits that yoga can bring.
He said: “You hear about players like Ryan Giggs doing it, so if it helps us when it comes to performing, then we’ll take it on board.
“If the top players are doing it and it helps them to recover, all the lads will buy into it and get on with it.”
