Spanish defender Joan Oriol has completed his move to Blackpool, who still hope to sign his compatriot Andrea Orlandi after a medical hitch.
Oriol watched Saturday’s 1-0 friendly defeat against Burnley from the stands at Bloomfield Road after completing a medical the previous day.
Pool confirmed a deal to sign the 27-year-old on a one year deal last night releasing a picture of the star in a shirt, beating off interested for the left-back from fellow Championship side Reading.
The experienced defender has made over 60 appearances in La Liga with Villarreal and Osasuna.
Oriol signed a three-year deal with northern Spain club Osasuna last summer, but after a difficult season saw them relegated became available and Pool manager Jose Riga was quick to snap him up.
And former Swansea and Brighton winger Orlandi could finally put pen to paper on a one-year deal if the minor issues with his medical are ironed out.
The 29-year-old played against the Clarets after agreeing terms on Friday. However, after completing his medical an issue came to light which has delayed the deal.
Pool start the final week of pre-season with 15 senior players signed up.
Nine triallists were named in the squad of 21 for the Burnley match, including the former Charlton and Crystal Palace midfielder Darren Ambrose.
Pool remain without a goalkeeper but have tabled offers for at least two, one of them a Premier League keeper who could join the club on a long-term loan. Bristol City’s Elliot Parish kept goal as a triallist against Burnley.
Belgian defender Frederic Frans also played against Burnley on Saturday and will continue talks with Pool today.
Saturday’s second pre-season friendly was officially Pool’s last before they travel to Nottingham Forest for Saturday’s Championship opener, but The Gazette understands Riga is keen to squeeze in another match early this wee
