BLACKPOOL admit they have no idea whether Callum McManaman is returning to Wigan.
On the evidence of Latics boss Roberto Martinez’s comments in recent weeks, the on-loan winger appears to feature in his Premier League plans for the rest of the season.
But the Seasiders have heard nothing from their Lancashire neighbours and are hopeful that the 20-year-old will be allowed to extend his loan.
McManaman was dropped to the bench for Monday’s win over Middlesbrough but Holloway is keen to keep him at the club.
The Pool boss said: “I haven’t got a clue what’s happening, but I really like Callum and what he brings to our team. I might have risked losing him by not starting him (against Boro) but two games in 48 hours is a big ask for a young lad.
“It might have been too much and Tom Ince deserved his chance.
“I will have to wait and see but Callum has fitted in so well. He looks like one of our players and he behaves like one.
“I am very grateful to Wigan for lending him to us but I don’t know what is going to happen next.”
Relegation-haunted Wigan were beaten 4-1 at home by Aston Villa last night and Martinez may be looking to freshen up his side with a flair player like McManaman.
Another reason to recall him could be to give senior players a breather in Saturday’s FA Cup tie against Swindon.
