Blackpool are lining up a swoop for Sheffield Wednesday striker Gary Madine.
Pool failed to land the 24-year-old on transfer deadline day but could complete a loan deal ahead of tomorrow’s home clash with Middlesbrough.
A permanent deal fell through at the last moment last Monday but loan signings are allowed from today.
Gateshead-born Madine has never been far from the headlines since joining the Owls in 2011.
He received an 18-month jail sentence in October 2013 for two nightclub assaults.
Madine started the season in the Wednesday team, scoring once in 13 games, but has spent the last three months on loan at Coventry, where he has fired four in 13 and was the League One club’s player of the month for December.
Coventry remain hopeful of doing a new deal with Madine themselves but The Gazette understands Pool are set to nip in and could sign the player in the next 24 hours.
When asked about the prospects of players arriving in time for the Boro game, Pool manager Lee Clark said: “There is potential, yes.
“But we’ve been saying that for the last few weeks and the deals you think are over the line don’t happen for whatever reason.
“We’ve got irons in the fire and strikers are one area I’m looking to strengthen.”
