Pool have missed out on the first of their summer targets after Gary Madine joined Bolton.
He was one of two players Blackpool offered contracts to at the end of the season, with midfield man Jamie O’Hara being the other.
Following the departure of boss Lee Clark almost two weeks ago, Madine made it clear he wouldn’t be considering a return to Bloomfield Road and instead wished to stay in the Championship.
He was due to undergo a medical at Bolton last night after talks with boss Neil Lennon to agree terms.
The 24-year-old scored three goals in 15 appearances during his loan spell from Sheffield Wednesday at the end of last season.
Madine was one of the few to catch supporters’ eyes and had hinted he’d be happy to be part of Clark’s rebuild at Blackpool.
He is expected to sign a two-year deal at the Macron Stadium this morning.
Another who won’t be returning to Blackpool is midfielder David Perkins as he looked set to join League One rivals Wigan.
Perkins was an almost ever present for the Seasiders last season, playing 47 times under Clark and Jose Riga, before being released last week.
Like Madine, Perkins underwent a medical last night and all going to plan will complete his move to Wigan this morning.
