Blackpool have made their first signing of the summer, with Jarrett Rivers joining from Blyth Spartans.
The winger arrives from the Evo-Stik Northern Premier League Premier on a one-year deal with the option of a further year.
Rivers, 21, was a star of the side’s FA Cup run which saw them reach the third round and won the Evo-Stick young player of the year away with his eye catching displays.
And boss Lee Clark said Rivers is a player he’s excited to see in tangerine.
“I’ve had personal success in the past taking players from non league, having signed Lee Novak while at Huddersfield and Matt Green at Birmingham City,” said Clark..
“Jarrett’s got a good football upbringing from his days as a youngster at Middlesbrough and he’s an exciting player who makes and scores goals.
“He’s been one of the outstanding players in a successful season for Blyth Spartans, starring in their FA Cup run and play-off push.
“His efforts this season have seen him rewarded with a Young Player of the Year award and a call-up to the England C team.”
Blackpool have paid an undisclosed fee for Rivers who fired 12 goals in 51 appearances last season season, including a memorable strike against Hartlepool United in a second round FA Cup victory.
As part of the deal, Blackpool will face Blyth Spartans in a pre-season friendly at Croft Park on Tuesday 14 July, kick-off 7.30pm.
