Tomasz Cywka sees no reason why Blackpool can’t defy the odds and shock Wigan tomorrow.
The Seasiders travel to the DW Stadium as huge underdogs after losing all their matches to date.
While tomorrow’s hosts are tipped by many to challenge for promotion, the Latics have only one point after a difficult start of their own.
And Pool’s Polish winger is convinced the visitors have a chance.
Cywka said: “We want to get some points out of the game. They haven’t had a great start themselves but anything can happen – we could play the top of the table and win.
“A win would get us off the mark. It could boost our confidence and would definitely make it easier.”
Former Barnsley midfielder Cywka has been an ever-present so far this season, opening his goalscoring account against Blackburn last weekend.
He added: “It’s been a crazy start, with the cup game and three league games in a week. We couldn’t do as much as we wished on the training ground due to the lack of players, so the next two or three weeks will be crucial for us.
“It was good to score. It gave us a boost but we need to build on that now.
“Obviously it wasn’t going to be easy starting the season like we did, but we are all getting to know each other better every day.
“Despite the results we feel good. We are still learning each other’s game and it is getting better every day.
“I’m happy to play but not happy with the results. It can only get better and I’m sure we’ll get there.”
-Pool have extended Donervon Daniels’ loan deal until January.
The defender has impressed during his three games so far and parent club West Brom are happy to allow the 20-year-old to stay at Bloomfield Road.
