MALAURY Martin - who didn’t play a single game - and David Carney are among 11 players leaving Blackpool.

The club has announced its official release list.

Most were known, but the departure of Martin and Carney comes as something of a surprise.

Pool were expected to give French midfielder Martin a chance in the Championship after he missed all of last season with a knee injury, picked up just days after joining the club last summer.

Australian international Carney has talked about how much he was looking forward to next season at Bloomfield Road. But that didn’t save him - he too has been told he can join another club.

As well as Martin and Carney, others to depart are long-serving right-back Danny Coid, Paul Rachubka, Richard Kingson, Rob Edwards, Marlon Harewood, Jason Euell, Andy Reid, Salaheddine Sbai and Ishmel Demontagnac.

New contracts have been offered to Matt Gilks, Stephen Crainey and David Vaughan. Striker Brett Ormerod has been offered a new deal on reduced terms. Youngsters Mark Halstead and Ash Eastham have also been offered new deals.

Options for a further 12 months at Blackpool have been activated on the contracts of Keith Southern, Neal Eardley, Ian Evatt, Billy Clarke, Gary Taylor-Fletcher, Charlie Adam and Louis Almond.

The following players are already under contract: Elliot Grandin, Alex Baptiste, Chris Basham, Ludovic Sylvestre, Craig Cathcart, Matt Phillips, Stephen Husband and DJ Campbell.

Luke Varney, Jason Puncheon and James Beattie have returned to parent clubs Derby, Southampton and Rangers.
