MATT Phillips will report to Blackpool for training tomorrow and could be thrown into Sunday’s home clash with Peterborough.
The winger is travelling back from Colombia after England were knocked out of the Under-20 World Cup.
Phillips played in all four games as England scraped through their group courtesy of three goalless draws before being dumped out by Nigeria at the first knockout stage.
Ian Holloway will assess the 20-year-old in training at Squires Gate.
But if Phillips proves he’s OK and raring to go, he may well be on the bench for the first home match of the season.
Holloway said: “Matty is a class player, who adds pace and electricity.
“He was doing great in training before he left us. I wanted him to go to the World Cup because it would have been selfish to stop him and I thought it would do him good.
“I think he will be grateful we let him play, even though it meant him missing the start of the season with us.”
