IAN Holloway has one aim with his current squad – to entertain the fans.
The Seasiders have thrilled the Bloomfield Road faithful twice over the past week with top-class footballing displays against Leeds and Ipswich.
And while league position is important, Holloway thinks entertaining the crowd is just as important.
The Pool boss said: “Anyone paying to watch a football match these days deserves to be entertained because it’s so expensive.
“That’s all I’m striving for. If I manage that, then hopefully I’ll be in this job for a long, long, time.
“Who knows what’s going to happen to you in life? We aren’t in real life here – we are just here to entertain people.
“We’ll always try to do that, whoever we sign or whoever we lose – and what a way to start.”
After the 6-0 humbling of Ipswich maintained Pool’s 100 per cent start, a thrilled Holloway said: “We care about improving and we care about the colour of the shirt we wear.
“I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again – this group of boys is getting stronger all the time.
“I’m very fortunate to have the bulk of the lads I’ve had over the last three years, still striving to improve all the time.
“People think a football manager’s job is easy but it’s a hard slog to recover from what happened to us – to go up, get relegated, then go so close to getting back there last season, it’s been tough.
“But some people in my position lost their job. Brendan Rogers did such a magnificent job at Swansea, and people are already questioning him at Liverpool. It’s just madness.
“I want to keep my lads’ feet on the ground and make sure we keep earning the right to play for that badge.”
