Old faces return for charity clash

Some of Blackpool’s most famous ex-players return to action to support two former team-mates on Sunday in a charity event is being held at Thornton FC.

The match is to raise funds for Alan Ainscow and Ian Britton, who have both been diagnosed with prostrate cancer.

The event has been organised by John Cross of the BFC ex-players’ association and will take place at Thornton Cleveleys FC at 2pm this Sunday 18th August.

A veteran Blackpool FC X1 will be taking on a Vintage Clarets X1 (Burnley FC, captained by former Pool player John Deary).

Players in attendance will include:

Entrance is FREE but organisers will be going round asking for donations.

The bar will be open from lunchtime onwards, food will be available, an ice cream van will be on site and a bouncy castle will be set up to keep the youngsters entertained.

Blackpool FC have very kindly provided a number of raffle prizes including signed shirts and footballs, match tickets in the Stanley Matthews Hospitality for a game this season, tickets in the Former Players hospitality box, tickets for the stadium tour that BFC now conduct are just a few of the items on offer.

Fans will also be invited to take part in a half-time penalty shoot-out against former player Derek Spence.
