Neil McDonald won’t be making many changes for tonight’s League Cup first round clash against Northampton.
It’s Blackpool’s second long trip in four days as they set off on a 350 mile round trip this evening (kick-off 7.45pm).
While many teams see the competition as a chance to try out untested players, Pool boss McDonald insists that won’t be the case.
“We won’t be changing the team around too much,” he said.
“We want to have that consistency and we want the same pattern of play and get the players into a system.
“We want to go there and win, and will be doing everything we can to do so.
Blackpool will be without keeper Colin Doyle who ‘popped’ his shoulder out of place on Saturday, while Bright Samuel looks to have shaken off a thigh injury picked up at the weekend.
Those concerns aside, most expect it to be a similar side which starts this evening, a team which new boss McDonald insists has plenty of improving to do.
He said: “We still have a lot of polishing to do but Saturday showed the players are working hard for each other and are trying to learn about how I’m trying to play.
