New date for Blackpool's Carabao Cup tie at Stoke City

Blackpool's competitive season will begin a week on Saturday with their visit to Stoke City in the Carabao Cup.

As anticipated, the first-round tie at Bet365 Stadium has been brought forward a week to August 29 because of the Championship club's international call-ups.

The 3pm kick-of will be behind closed doors.

The switch means Blackpool's friendly with Oldham Athletic scheduled for that date will no longer take place.

That leaves the Seasiders with two warm-up games before the Stoke fixture: against Everton tomorrow and Blackburn Rovers next Tuesday, both at Bloomfield Road.

The League One season begins on September 12, when Blackpool visit Plymouth Argyle, with the second round of the Carabao Cup scheduled for the following Wednesday.
