The Seasiders welcome League One strugglers Tranmere Rovers to Bloomfield Road for what will be Critchley’s second game since making the move to the Fylde coast from Liverpool.

The 41-year-old made a promising start at the weekend as Blackpool delivered a strong display in their goalless draw against in-form neighbours Fleetwood Town.

Critchley was impressed by the backing from Pool’s supporters at Highbury on Saturday and can’t wait to witness it on a grander scale on home turf.

“I can’t wait to sample that home atmosphere,” Critchley said.

“We have a real passionate support base, real loyal supporters who come and get behind the team.

“I saw that on Saturday away from home, it was continuous for 95 minutes.

“I’m really looking forward to being at home on Tuesday night, it will be a really special moment for me.

“But more importantly, I hope the players go and play how I know they can. If we do, then I’ve got no doubt the Blackpool supporters will be right behind the team and supporting the team like they did on Saturday.”

The Seasiders take on a Tranmere side that remain inside the bottom three in League One despite enjoying back-to-back victories in their last two games.

Micky Mellon’s side, who have won away at both Shrewsbury Town and Accrington Stanley in recent weeks, are still six points adrift of safety.

“They’ve obviously been buoyed by two really good away performances and victories in the last few weeks which will give them a lift,” Critchley added.

“To go to Shresbury and Accrington and pick up six points is great credit to them, so we know it’s going to be a really tough game.

“Obviously they’re fighting for their lives and they’re right in it, so they’ll be coming here to make it three wins on the bounce away from home.

“They have a clear way of playing, so it’s going to be a tough game. We have to be ready for it.”
