The 20-year-old has been in impressive form for the Coasters this season, making 19 appearances for the National League North outfit.

“I’ve really enjoyed the first half of the season here,” Shaw said.

“I think it’s gone really well for me in terms of getting games and gaining experience, so I’m just focused on continuing that now.

“It’s been really easy to settle in, which made the decision to extend an easy one. All the lads are great, it’s a really good bunch.

“Danny Philliskirk and Andy Taylor were both at Blackpool a few years ago, so I already knew a few of them before I came.

“The atmosphere is really good in the dressing room and has been ever since I came in, so it’s always good to be in that kind of environment.

“The gaffer and Nick (Chadwick) have given me an opportunity to play games and I’m very grateful for that. Hopefully, I can repay the faith that everybody has shown in me by contributing with more goals and assists.”

Shaw, a product of Blackpool’s academy, impressed under Neil Critchley during pre-season, but was left out of Blackpool's squads at the start of the campaign.

He did, however, start Blackpool’s goalless EFL Trophy draw against Barrow at the start of September.

Shaw made his competitive Blackpool debut last season in the 5-1 EFL Trophy win against Morecambe, going on to make one further appearance in the competition.

This season he has played a pivotal role for Fylde, who are right in the hunt for promotion back to the National League.

Shaw added: “When I joined the club the aim was to gain promotion and nothing has changed, so hopefully come the end of the season we will have achieved that.

“We are a good enough team with lots of talented and experienced players, so there is no reason why we can’t kick on now.

“I’m just really excited to carry on playing games and enjoying my football.

“I think my game has improved a lot since coming to AFC Fylde – both defensively and offensively.

“I came out to get games; get minutes, and work on what I needed to improve on. So far I think I’ve done that, but there’s still more to come.”
