Morecambe are planning a swoop for Tom Barkhuizen after the winger was released by Blackpool.
The 21-year-old was one of many Pool players who met with manager Lee Clark on Sunday to be told he would not be offered a new contract at Bloomfield Road.
The club’s official retained list is yet to be released, though The Gazette understands a number of senior players are heading out of the door. Barkhuizen, who has been at the club since the age of 14, was loaned to Morecambe in October and has made eight Pool appearances under Clark since the turn of the year.
Several League One and Two clubs have expressed an interest in the wideman, though the Shrimps are leading the way.
Barkhuizen also had a loan stint at Fleetwood Town two seasons ago.
