'A decisive moment changed everything': Neil Critchley rues James Husband's red ...

Lewis Montsma's 88th-minute strike clinched the three points for the Imps, who have now won all four of their opening four league games.

The Imps had earlier fell behind to CJ Hamilton's opener courtesy of Jorge Grant's penalty, who again levelled from the spot after Demetri Mitchell thought he had won it for Blackpool late on.

But the game turned on its head in the 85th-minute when James Husband was shown a straight red card after conceding the penalty that led to Lincoln's second.

Reflecting on the game, Imps boss Appleton said: “We had a mixture of everything today, the good, the bad and the ugly.

“We were below it in the first half and there is no doubt about that but, But I think we showed good character to get into the game. We didn’t give them the chance to build on the lead in the first half.

“In the second half we dominated and we were excellent, we controlled it well. The lads went behind twice and won the game which will be good mentally going forward.

“We are fit and athletic plus we have great energy, but we will lose games at stages. That won’t be down to work rate it will be down to the opposition being better than us.

“But we have had a good start, we have the points in the bank and as a group we have ticked a lot of boxes.

"If we want to compete at the top, we will need to be able to take points away from home and we have done that today.”
