Lee Clark was left fuming by the needless sending-off for Tony McMahon at Fulham last night.
The skipper lashed out at Hugo Rodallega in the 40th minute with the Seasiders were two goals up at the time and looking comfortable.
Pool went onto throw away their lead away in the onslaught which followed and Clark was less than impressed.
“I saw the footage and Tony lashed out. You just can’t do it,” he said.
“He’s my captain and a senior player, and you could say it cost us three points.
“He knew after the game I wasn’t pleased with him because I didn’t say anything to him.
“I don’t know if he made contact, but as soon as you start lashing out like that you’re asking for trouble. He made it difficult for the referee.”
Clark revealed that McMahon believed the dismissal was unjust, though his boss clearly doesn’t agree.
He said: “Tony didn’t think he deserved the red card, so we need a chat. You just don’t put yourself in that position, especially such an experienced player.
“He’s a terrific lad and I like him, I always have. But I think he will be frustrated with himself.”
