Neil McDonald dropped his biggest hint yet of his plans for the coming season, as he chose the squad’s numbers.

In particular it’s his decision to hand Colin Doyle the number one shirt which appears to end the debate of who will be the club’s first choice stopper this term.

Pool kick-off their season with a long trip to Colchester on Saturday and will do so with 13 players hoping to make their club debuts.

Among them will be new strike paring Mark Cullen and Jack Redshaw who take the number nine and ten shirts respectively.

New right-back Emmerson Boyce takes number two after he joined from Wigan last night on a one-year deal.

Elsewhere, Jim McAlister takes number four, Clark Robertson number five, Lloyd Jones number six, Brad Potts number eight, John Herron number 14 and Kyle Letheren number 23.

Newly appointed captain David Ferguson switches from the number 25 shirt to the number three shirt.
