Prince William recalls stag-party visit to Bloomfield Road

The Spaniard made his 309th and final Premier League appearance in Sunday's 5-0 thrashing of Norwich City.

Nicknamed the 'Magician' for his consistently influential displays, the 34-year-old has been at the heart of all City's successes since signing from Valencia for £26m in 2010.

Silva has won four Premier League titles, two FA Cups and five League Cups with City, adding to the World Cup and two European titles he has claimed with Spain.

The one domestic title to elude the veteran is the Champions' League and he could yet put that right - City's European campaign resumes with the second leg of their long-delayed last-16 tie against Real Madrid on Friday next week.

Silva has scored 77 times in all competitions for City, his first in the Premier League coming in a 3-2 win at Bloomfield Road on October 17 2010.

Silva came off the bench for his seventh English top-flight appearance and scored the goal in the 90th minute which proved the winner.

All the goals came in the second half as Carlos Tevez struck twice for City either side of Marlon Harewood's strike for the Seasiders.

Silva's goal made it 3-1 and sealed the points, though Pool pulled one back through Gary Taylor-Fletcher in stoppage time.

The Press Association reported at the time: "It was the moment Silva truly announced his arrival at City. Jinking his way into the area, Silva lit up Bloomfield Road when he twice dragged the ball back inside with his left foot as two defenders slid in.

"As another approached he clipped away a shot that curled past him and the goalkeeper and inside the far post."
