SWANSEA City have announced Dane Michael Laudrup as their new manager – ending speculation linking Blackpool’s Ian Holloway with the job vacated by Brendan Rodgers’ move to Liverpool.

The Dane emerged as the front runner to take over at the Liberty Stadium, Laudrup won five Spanish league titles in the early 1990s and was one of the players of his generation, but has yet to replicate that success as a manager with spells at Brondby, Getafe, Spartak Moscow and Mallorca.

However, his style of football will be suited to that fashioned by Rodgers, which saw the Welsh club adapt well to life in the Premier League.
