Pool are also edging closer to persuading veteran frontman Kevin Phillips to sign.
The striker – a free agent after being released by Birmingham – is understood to be close to agreeing a deal with the Seasiders.
Phillips has scored 227 league goals in 427 games in a 16-year career that has included spells at Sunderland, Southampton and Aston Villa.
He turns 38 later this month but Pool Ian Holloway sees him as a frontman capable of grabbing vital goals and changing games, even if it’s from the bench.
Barring any last-minute hitches, the former England frontman is expected to put pen to paper on a deal in the next 24 hours.
