Paul Ince is delighted to finally sign Ricardo Fuller and hopes to add at least another before tomorrow’s game.

Pool were in advanced talks with another striker last night, and hoped to have a deal in place in time to travel to the North East this afternoon ahead of tomorrow’s game at Middlesbrough.

Ince has so far added seven new faces to his squad but wants at least another six more.

“We managed to get Ricardo done and hope for another in time Saturday,” said Ince.

“If we can get the second done they will bolster the squad a little bit, but the clock’s ticking so we have to start moving quickly.

“As much as we want to bring players in, there’s not a lot out there.”

While Ince was keeping the player’s identity under wraps he revealed there’s also chance of a right-back arriving after ‘one or two’ new options became available yesterday.

Ince added: “There was one right-back who we wanted from a Premier League club but that broke down a couple of weeks ago.

“But one or two cropped up yesterday and it would be great if we could get it done.”

The one deal Pool managed to get over the line was for striker Fuller.

And Ince was delighted with his business.

“Ricardo was playing 30 games for Stoke in the Premier League two years ago,” he said.

“Since I’ve been here we haven’t had that big, strong and tough centre forward who can bully centre halves.

“I actually think, looking at the Championship, it’s starting to get more physical.

“We have that physical presence now.

“I always thought we needed someone like Ricardo in our squad.

“I’ve spoken to Chris Powell and they wanted to sign him at Charlton.

“They are waiting for a takeover down there and are disappointed to lose him.

“It’s a good chance for him to come and show everyone what he can do.

“His CV shows he’s a very good player.

“He’s not 100% fit yet, but neither are Stephen Davies or Michael Chopra.”
