Blackpool are bracing themselves for several bids for Thomas Ince this month, despite Swansea having already made the first move.

The winger was back on form at Bolton on Saturday under the watchful eye of numerous scouts.

Premier League side Swansea are in talks with the Seasiders over a deal for the 21-year-old after tabling an offer on Friday.

But Paul Ince, Pool’s manager and the player’s father, thinks the Swans will be only one of many interested parties.

“It won’t just be Swansea who come in,” revealed Ince senior. “But when you see him playing like he did on Saturday, he’s going to get attention from other clubs.

“I thought that was Thomas back to his best. He was on a different level. Swansea have been in touch with our chairman. Karl (Oyston) is dealing with (Swansea counterpart) Huw Jenkins on that one.”

With Ince’s contract due to expire in the summer, a major offer would really test Oyston’s resolve. Pool would be able to claim compensation from any buying club in the summer because the player is under 23, though the fee for Ince would probably be far higher if a deal was done during the current transfer window.

The Seasiders offered the former Liverpool man a new deal earlier in the season, though it’s a contract he was never likely to sign.

While the chance to play in the Premier League may tempt Pool’s star man, his dad has once again insisted he’s in no rush to leave.

The Pool boss said: “Thomas’ performances haven’t been great lately but nobody’s have. It was great to hear the fans sing his name on Saturday.

“He just wants to play well for this club and on Saturday he looked like he was enjoying his football. Whether he’s here after January or until the summer, who knows?”
