ROBBIE Fowler won’t be joining Blackpool.
The Liverpool legend was offered a deal earlier this week after impressing Ian Holloway in training. But the manager admits the talks broke down.
Holloway said: “I had a chat with my chairman and I had a chat with Robbie, and we aren’t going to get that deal going.
“Karl Oyston’s idea of what Robbie could do and how he could do it didn’t match up with what Robbie wants. I had a go, but he doesn’t feel this club is right for him.
“I’d have loved to have got him in as he would have offered us something different. There’s no animosity. I really liked him but we have to move on now.”
The 36-year-old striker was offered a pay-as-you play deal understood to have been £90-a-week and £5,000 per appearance. Fowler confirmed the offer on Twitter.
He tweeted: “It was £90 but I would need to play a full 90 minutes to get full appearance bonus.
“Mr Holloway has gone up in my estimation since I met him ... an absolute star.”
Championship rivals Hull and Doncaster have also been linked with Fowler, and Fleetwood Town have expressed their interest.
