Former Pool loan star Longstaff set for Championship move

Joe Dodoo arrived on a season-long loan from Rangers, where he has struggled to make an impact.

John O’Sullivan and Chris Taylor joined after being released from Carlisle United and Bolton Wanderers respectively, while Jordan Thompson agreed terms after being let go by Rangers.

Bowyer told The Gazette: “From a club point of view we’re absolutely delighted with what we were able to bring in last week.

“It’s always good when you can bring in players you have previously worked with, as I have with John O’Sullivan and Chris Taylor.

“I know what they are capable of doing. Both have shown they have the capability to play in the Championship, so we’re hoping they reproduce that form.

“They’re both very hungry and both had a year in which they probably wish they had done better, so they’ve got an inner-strength to kick on again.

“We’re delighted with those two but we think Jordan Thompson has got unbelievable talent as well.

“We’re looking forward to working with him and developing him further.

“He fits into the bracket of (fellow new signings)Michael Nottingham and Harry Pritchard, and of Curtis Tilt last year. These are unknown players we work with, develop and make better.

“Obviously we want them to become an asset for the club as well.

“From my point of view Joe Dodoo is a great signing and a real sign of intent from the football club.

“I followed him throughout his youth career and I was aware him at Leicester, then he moved to Rangers.

“Just from meeting him, I can see he’s so fired up to do well.

“He can play in a variety of positions, so we’re absolutely buzzing over the impact he can have this season.

“Again, he’s young, he’s hungry and he has a point to prove. That’s the case with quite a lot of my signings. That’s what we look for.”

The Seasiders have made six signings this summer and are waiting on Kelvin Mellor, Dolly Menga, Clark Robertson, Jay Spearing and Kyle Vassell to decide on their futures. They will all be out of contract at the end of the month.
