PAUL Ince says every player in his Blackpool squad is on trial.
The Seasiders have an incredible 38 players out of contract at the end of this season.
New boss Ince will have to make a decision on the 25 who have options in their contract entitling the club to keep them for at least another year.
He will also have to choose which of the other 13 he wishes to offer new deals.
Ince wants his players to prove they are good enough to stay.
He said: “I’ve said to the players that just because they are out of contract in the summer it doesn’t mean they will be leaving this football club.
“They have to prove to me in the next eight weeks that they are worthy of a new contract.
“The quicker we can get to the safety marker (50 points), the quicker we can start looking towards the future.
“Until that time comes, all the players are on trial.”
Blackpool visit Birmingham City tonight (kick-off 7:45pm) looking for their first win under new manager Ince.
The Seasiders lost his first game in charge at Leeds, then drew 0-0 with Leicester and Bristol City at Bloomfield Road.
It is been four games since Pool last found the net, but that isn’t worrying the boss too much at the moment.
He said: “The lack of goals would worry me more if we were conceding goals but we are defending really well.
“Look at Birmingham conceding five (at Hull) on Saturday – we don’t have those sorts of problems.
“But it is concerning that we haven’t scored in the past four games. Players have to take responsibility and have the desire to get into positions to score goals.
“Also some things aren’t just falling for us. You can’t keep keeping clean sheets, so we need to add goals.”
