Nathan Delfouneso is to become the 12th member of Blackpool’s squad after agreeing terms last night.
The 23-year-old striker will undergo a medical this morning after agreeing a one-year deal with the option of a further 12 months.
Delfouneso, who is a free agent after being released by Aston Villa, has enjoyed loan spells at Bloomfield Road in the past two seasons.
He has been training with the Seasiders for the past fortnight and impressed manager Jose Riga with two goals at Penrith in Pool’s only pre-season game so far.
Delfouneso (below) spent virtually the whole of the 2012-13 season at Pool, scoring seven goals in 43 appearances. He made a further 11 appearances in the first half of last season.
Pool had been expected to make two further signings yesterday. Neither deal was completed, although Riga and chairman Karl Oyston again spent the day at Bloomfield Road attempting to add to their squad .
It’s understood as many as six deals are close, with Riga hoping many of his targets will be in place before the visit of Burnley on Saturday.
