Michael Chopra could be back in Blackpool’s squad for the trip to Barnsley.

The striker was fined £16,000 and left out of the squad to face Middlesbrough last weekend after criticising the club on Twitter.

The tweet left manager Paul Ince furious and cast a major doubt over Chopra’s future at the club.

But after the pair held clear-the-air talks this week, it’s understood the 30-year-old has apologised and could feature among the squad of 19 to travel to South Yorkshire.

If reports are to be believed, he could be joined by Bolton’s Tyrone Mears.

The defender has endured a difficult couple of seasons at the Reebok and has been frozen out by boss Dougie Freedman, making only three appearances so far this season.

The 30-year-old right-back is reported to be in talks with Pool over a loan deal for the rest of the season.

While he is on Pool’s radar, it’s understood the club have a number of other targets.

One player whose future is far from certain is Dan Gosling.

The midfielder returned to Newcastle at the start of this month after making 14 appearances in a successful loan spell at Bloomfield Road.

With his bumper Premier League contract set to expire this summer, Newcastle would rather sell the 23-year-old than loan him out again this month.

Blackpool are monitoring the situation and would definitely be interested if the Magpies were to make Gosling available for loan.

Newcastle boss Alan Pardew said: “We are probably going to sit on that one for a couple of weeks.”
