TWO second-half strikes by Kevin Phillips rescued a point for Blackpool against Brighton.

But it was Phillips who showed every bit of his quality with two fantastic efforts to earn Blackpool a point.

FULL TIME: Brighton 2 Blackpool 2

Well who saw that coming. On 54 minutes Blackpool looked dead and burried, before three substitutions got the Seasiders back in the game.

As for Phillips, he may be 38, but his quality in front of goal is priceless.

90 mins: GOAL TO BLACKPOOL!!! Stephen Crainey’s cross falls to Kevin Phillips who shows every bit of his quality to volley into the goal. Sensational strike by Phillips.

89 mins: MASSIVE claims for handball in the box. Ian Evatt put the ball into the box and it appeared to strike the defender’s arm. Ian Holloway is livid.

87 mins: Have to say Blackpool have looked much better with Neal Eardley on the pitch. Whatever person problems he may have, get them sorted!

85 mins: Five minutes left here. Looking like it might just fizz out here. There will be one more chance though.

83 mins: Brett Ormerod glances an Ian Evatt cross wide. All out attack for Blackpool here.

80 mins: Big penalty claim for Brighton as Ashley Barnes goes down under an Ian Evatt tackle in the box. Big call to wave it away from the referee, would have been a penalty and a red card.

76 mins: Sensational save by Matty Gilks. He somehow blocks Mackail Smiths effort from only three yards. The flag was up, but still a fantastic save.

75 mins: 15 minutes left here and it is all Blackpool at the moment. Looking a totally different side.

71 mins: Ian Evatt forces a corner for Blackpool. Taylor-Fletcher’s near post corner was well defended.

70 mins: You can tell Brighton are a little nervous at the moment, it’s amazing what a goal can do to a game of football. Blackpool will get another chance, they need to take it.

68 mins: Big chance for Blackpool as Brett Ormerod rose well to head a Stephen Crainey cross wide.

67 mins: Ian Evatt is yellow carded.

Out of nowhere Blackpool are back in this game. Neal Eardley crossed deep into the box and Kevin Phillips did what he did best by heading in from five yards. Maybe...just maybe?

58 mins: Ian Holloway is throwing everything at Brighton now. Craig Sutherland, Neal Eardley and Brett Ormerod come on to replace Chris Basham, Billy Clarke and Matty Phillips.

Really weak goal for Blackpool to give away. A poor corner was knocked into the near post and not defended. Somehow the ball found its way into the path of Ashley Barnes who won’t score an easier goal.

45 mins: Well we are back underway here. Much quieter ground here. No chances at the break, Pool are still in this.

Very difficult half for Blackpool, they’ll be glad to get in only 1-0 at the break. Big job for Ian Holloway to turn this one around.

45 mins: Two minutes time added on.

39 mins: Blackpool need half-time here. Brighton are playing like a team full of confidence and the Seasiders have no answer as it stands. Need to get in only one down at the break.

34 mins: Decent run and cross by Matty Phillips, turned away for a corner.

32 mins: Blackpool need to weather the storm here. Mackail-Smith went down under an Evatt challenge in the box, waved away. Never a penalty.

31 mins: Big test for Blackpool now, really up against it here and the home supporters are making some noise.

Craig Mackail-Smith heads into the corner after a great left-wing cross from Inigo Calderon.

28 mins: Much better spell from Blackpool here. This time Clarke delivers a free-kick into the box but Evatt can’t quite get on the end of it.

26 mins: Free kick to Blackpool in a decent area on the right, Clarke takes shot to Basham, his shot was blocked from the edge of the box though.

25 mins: Billy Clarke drives wide from 25 yards. Decent effort.

24 mins: Not too much of note to report from here so far. Brighton the better side so far, hopefully Pool can get a grip of the game not it is starting to settle down a bit.

18 mins: Matt Gilks forced to race out of his area to clear a short back pass from Alex Baptiste.

14 mins: Brighton have settled into this game better so far, big loud support behind them. Could be similar to Hull where Blackpool need to keep it tight for the opening 20 minutes and silence the crowd.

9 mins: First decent chance of the game falls to Brighton. Lewis Dunk headed over a decent right-wing cross. Should have done better.

4 mins: Decent start to the game here, both teams seeing plenty of the ball.

3pm: Here come the teams. Brilliant atmopshere here this afternoon. Good number of Pool fans looking well in Tangerine behind the goal to my right.

2:55pm: Welcome to Brighton and a fatastic new stadium. Brilliant set-up, perfect pitch, well impressed.

Pre Match:Blackpool made three changes to the side that lost 1-0 at home to Derby on Wedensday.

Chris Basham, Billy Clarke and Matt Phillips come in to replace Matt Hill, the ill Craig Cathcart and the injured Elliot Grandin.

POOLS: Gilks, Baptiste, Basham, Crainey, Evatt, Southern, Ferguson, Taylor-Fletcher, Matt Phillips, Kevin Phillips and Clarke.
