BOLTON have made an enquiry about Pool winger Matt Phillips but The Gazette understands the Premier League strugglers have been told they are wasting their time.

After Cardiff’s £800,000 offer, and with Bolton cash-rich after selling Gary Cahill to Chelsea, officials from Wanderers contacted the Seasiders about the possibility of a deal for Phillips.

But Pool, whose own bank balance is healthy after a season in the Premier League, have made it clear they will not sell the 20-year-old and Bolton, for the time being, have dropped their interest.
