It was previously thought the Everton midfielder was close to sealing a switch to Bloomfield Road but the Liverpool Echo are now suggesting the deal has collapsed.

It is not yet clear why the move for the 21-year-old has fallen through or whether there’s any hope of it being revived.

The Seasiders have, however, since brought in another player in his position in the form of ex-Rochdale man MJ Williams.

The 25-year-old, who is primarily known as a defensive midfielder, penned a one-year deal with the option to extend by a further 12 months.

Blackpool had also been linked with a loan move for Leeds United man Robbie Gotts, but it’s thought he’s likely to move to Huddersfield Town instead.

Baningime, who has made 12 first-team appearances for the Toffees, was named in Everton’s extended squads prior to the conclusion of the Premier League season but is likely to head out on loan next term to gain regular game time.

While the DR Congo youngster failed to feature for Everton’s first-team during the 2019/20 campaign, he did make three appearances for the Under-21 side in the EFL Trophy.

This included an appearance in the Toffees’ second round defeat to Fleetwood Town.

Baningime, who reportedly came close to joining Danish side Brondby last summer, is contracted to Everton until the summer of 2022.

The defensive midfielder made just one appearance for Wigan Athletic during a brief loan spell during the 2018/19 season that was interrupted by a series of injuries.

He didn’t feature in Saturday’s pre-season encounter between Blackpool and Everton, instead turning out for the Toffees’ under-23 side against Runcorn Town.
