Blackpool face a trip to Premier League side Aston Villa in the third round of the FA Cup on the first weekend of 2015.

It will be the Seasiders’ first trip to Villa Park since their top-flight meeting in 2010, when Pool lost 3-2 in dramatic fashion and manager Ian Holloway was charged with fielding a weakened side.

The clubs have met just once before in the FA Cup, with Pool on the receiving end of a 4-0 hammering in January 1938.

The draw was made at The Deep aquarium in Hull and Pool chairman Karl Oyston was pleased with the outcome. He said: “It’s a good draw for us to get a Premier League side.

“It will be quite a big game for us and something to look forward to, but the league remains our priority.

“Our first and only thoughts are to stay in the Championship but a nice cup run will be nice too.”

Hull City boss Steve Bruce attended last night’s draw and saw his side sent to Arsenal in the first tie out of the bag – a repeat of last season’s final.

Non-league Dover will host Crystal Palace, while Southport travel to Derby, Liverpool visit Wimbledon, Everton play West Ham and Accrington or Yeovil will host Manchester United.
