The Seasiders make the long trip to Kent looking to build on last week’s 2-0 win against Swindon Town, which was their first three points of the campaign.

Neil Critchley’s men started the 2020/21 league season in disappointing fashion, losing 1-0 at Plymouth Argyle despite dominating for large periods against the third tier newcomers.

After putting that frustration behind them against Swindon last week, Kemp wants to use the Swindon result as a springboard for their season.

“We were really disappointed with the result at Plymouth, but not the performance. We felt we definitely deserved to win the game,” Kemp said.

“Obviously last weekend against Swindon was a brilliant day for everyone and a great result. We played well and it was great to get three points to get off the mark.

“We’re definitely hungry to win again and get another big three points on Saturday.

“We feel last week was a really big result for us and now we can just look forward to producing more performances like that and pick up more points.”

Kemp is still waiting to make his first league start for the Seasiders, having come off the bench in both games to date.

The 21-year-old, on loan from West Ham United, is prepared to bide his time.

“I’m loving it so far,” he said. “I’ve been here just over two weeks now and I’ve really enjoyed it so far.

“The lads and the manager and all the staff have all been brilliant with me.

“I’m slowly but surely getting used to the North West, it’s a lot colder up here!

“It’s not as busy as I’m used to either, being from London. I don’t want to jinx it but there’s not as much traffic either.

“In all seriousness, it’s not amazingly different but there are a few things I’ve had to get used to.”

He added: “Since I’ve been here the quality of the squad has really impressed me. It’s a really talented bunch.

“We all want to work hard for each other and there’s a great spirit within the dressing room, which is something I’ve definitely picked up on.

“Hopefully I can add my quality to the group. I’m just looking forward to playing more games and getting to know my team-mates better and better.

“If you look at any top team, which is something we’re aspiring to be, there’s always competition.

“The boys are all working hard to the same goal to make sure we win games. But we’re all pushing each other each day to get in the team.

“That’s the big challenge. It’s not just on matchdays, it’s in training as well where you’ve got to be at your best every day.”
