Blackpool keeper insists there is plenty still to play for this season

The Seasiders find themselves nine points off the play-offs in League One with three games in hand.

With Neil Critchley’s side still having 22 games to play, Maxwell insists it’s all to play for in the final months of the campaign.

“It’s that stage of the season, isn’t it? It’s still a league of optimism and every team is playing for something,” the goalkeeper said.

“Teams at the bottom are still fighting for something, the teams at the top are fighting for something and the teams in the middle are all trying to stay away from relegation or make a late charge for the play-offs.

“The games come thick and fast. They’re becoming more and more valuable. There’s going to be a lot more twists and turns, especially in this busy period.

“We’re all disappointed after Saturday (defeat at Ipswich Town) but we’re in a good place and we’re not going to let this performance dictate the rest of our season.

“That’s the most important thing and sometimes in hindsight, we may look at this performance and result and think it was important it happened because it proved to be the catalyst for us to kick on.”
