The Seasiders return to action at Bloomfield Road tomorrow night against Northampton Town looking to get back to winning ways in League One.

Neil Critchley’s side picked up a creditable 1-1 draw against title contenders Hull City at the weekend, with Yates scoring Blackpool’s goal nine minutes from time.

But Pool were a little disappointed not to come away with all three points having dominated the final stages against the Tigers’ 10 men.

Blackpool have yet to taste victory in the league since beating Hull in the reverse fixture on December 15.

“It was a good point in the end, but we felt like we could have gone on and got another goal and collected the three points. It wasn’t to be, so we’ll take the point,” the 24-year-old said.

“We know what we’re good at and we just need to carry on doing it and stick to what we’re good at.

“Fingers crossed it continues in midweek against Northampton and we can kick on.

“The recent win against West Brom in the FA Cup was massive for us. We were buzzing all week in training leading up to the Hull game.

“We just want to get straight onto the next game so we can get some wins under our belts.

“It gives you a lot of belief winning against such a good side like West Brom. If you can get a result against them then you should be able to get a result against anyone in this league.

“With the players we’ve got, we know we’re a strong side so we just need to improve and get better. We’ve got a lot more in the locker than we’re showing at the minute. We just need to kick on.”

Yates, who has now scored eight in his last 15 outings, also reserved praise for Ben Woodburn, who has returned to his parent club Liverpool after his loan spell came to an end.

The 22-year-old performed well off the bench at the KCOM Stadium on Saturday, winning the foul that led to Reece Burke’s straight red card.

“Ben has been unlucky because the players have been performing well in his position. He’s a very good player and I’m sure he’ll have an exciting career,” Yates added.

“He made the difference off the bench on Saturday. He put the corner in which we scored from and we nearly had a 1v1 with him as well.”
