Alex Cowdy has been promoted to the role of chief executive at Blackpool FC.

The 37-year-old former players’ agent has served as club secretary at Bloomfield Road since March.

He had previously spent 14 months at Fleetwood Town as football co-ordinator.

A member of the selection panel responsible for appointing new manager Gary Bowyer, Cowdy said: “I am delighted to expand my role and become involved in other areas of the club’s operations.”

Cowdy becomes Pool’s first permanent CEO for a decade.
