Back Henry Street, which has been running since 2012, was taken down over the weekend after the Blackpool fan that runs it, Paul Crashley, said he was fed up of having to moderate offensive posts.

It comes in the wake of the death of American George Floyd, which sparked protests across the globe as part of the #BlackLivesMatter movement.

A number of demonstrations were held across the UK over the weekend, some being marred by disturbances and acts of vandalism.

When you try to access the forum, it comes up with a black screen with the following message: “I didn't allow myself to get sued by the Oystons just to cater for racists.

“I don't pay out of my own pocket to spend my Sunday's policing racism.

“Go post somewhere that doesn't care #BlackLivesMatter”

Crashley, who the Oystons unsuccessfully attempted to sue in 2014, has since confirmed to The Gazette that the message board has been closed for good.

The Pool fan was taken to court over alleged defamatory comments on the fans’ forum six years ago.

But on the day the High Court hearing between the Oystons and Valeri Belokon began, it emerged the case against Mr Crashley had been struck out.

The Oystons were suing the message board for up to £150,000 over six defamatory comments allegedly posted on the site.

Official court documents showed both Owen and Karl Oyston, plus Blackpool FC, were hoping to claim damages of £150,000 each.
