The 21-year-old has been an important player for the Seasiders so far this season, despite his game-time being limited by injury, suspension and international call-ups.

“We’ve been speaking to Arsenal and the agreement is quite close,” Pool’s head coach said.
“Arsenal are happy for him to stay, Dan wants to stay as well, so we’re hoping to conclude that very shortly.”
Ballard was preferred at centre-back for Blackpool’s 1-0 defeat against Shrewsbury Town last night to teammate Daniel Gretarsson.

“It’s nothing, we just thought Dan would be better suited to this game,” Pool’s head coach said.
“Daniel is fine and when you’ve only got so many places to fill on the bench, with Hubby (James Husband) you know he can play two positions.”
