Blackpool boss Simon Grayson warns against losing more ground on League One’s top six
Simon Grayson says his Blackpool side can’t afford to let the gap to the League One play-offs become any bigger.
The Seasiders are now 11 points adrift of the top six following a worrying run of five defeats from their last six outings.
Tuesday night’s 2-1 defeat at Wycombe Wanderers also made it nine games without a win in all competitions.
Things don’t get any easier for Grayson’s men, who take on eighth-placed Oxford United tomorrow.
“Of course we don’t want to get any further away, so we need to start winning football matches again very quickly,” Grayson told The Gazette.
“If it’s a scrappy 1-0 win on Saturday then we’ll take that.
“You know what can happen in this division, if you win a game it can transform your form very quickly and you can get back-to-back victories to close the gap.
“We’ve got to try and get that first victory soon and whatever happens after that will take care of itself.
“We’ve got to do better regardless of who we’re playing. We have to concentrate on what we need to do.
“When we’re in possession, can we affect the game more? Can we make the right decisions?”
