Blackpool have handed a trial to Belgian international Jonathan Legear.
The 27-year-old winger, who has in the past been linked with Newcastle, has spent the week training with the Seasiders with a view to a deal from Belgian side KV Mechelen.
Legear came through the youth system at Anderlecht before going on to make 122 appearances for the club and breaking into the Belgian national side.
He then moved to Russian Premier League side Terek Grozny where a number of controversial off the field issues saw him make just 22 appearances in two years.
In 2012 he wound up in court after crashing his Porsche through a service garage in the Belgian town of Tongerenat before seeing his wages slashed after publicly criticising the club in the media.
This summer returned to the Belgian Pro League to join KV Mechelen where his availability has caught the eye of boss Riga.
Legear is one of three players currently training with the Seasiders in an attempt to impress the manager.
