Tom Barkhuizen has become the sixth player to commit to Blackpool for next season.
The 2o-year-old had the one-year option on his contract activated yesterday .
The Bispham-based attacker made 15 appearances this season for the club he first joined as a 14-year-old.
And Barkhuizen told The Gazette he’s more than happy to continue his development at Bloomfield Road.
“It’s been great to be involved in the first team this season and play the number of games I have,” he said.
“I was unlucky with injuries. I’d probably have played more otherwise but I’m pleased with my contribution. I feel I’m improving all the time and my aim now is to get in regularly.
“I’m looking forward to a break now and then getting back for pre-season.”
Steven Davies, Bobby Grant, Gary MacKenzie, David Perkins and new signing Charles Dunne are also tied to Pool for the coming season.
The club has until the end of next week to activate contract extension options on other players, like striker Ricardo Fuller.
Another who is out of contract is player of the season Matt Gilks. The keeper, who could leave the club for free this summer, has been linked to Aston Villa.
