Blackpool classy as Posh says captain Ryan

While the Seasiders were under the cosh for much of the first half, they came out fighting in the second period but couldn’t quite find that all-important winner.

Ryan believes Blackpool were the side who looked more likely to win it.

He said: “It’s getting to that stage of the season where you have to fight for every point.

“It was a difficult game. They are a good side but we dug in there. We were by far the better team in the second half and could have taken the three points.

“In the first half they didn’t really cause us much trouble but they were getting on top a little bit.

“Second half we came out and fixed that, and we started to get on top.

“It was a shame we couldn’t get a winner but we’ll take the point because every point counts at this stage of the season.”

The 29-year-old former Fleetwood Town man built on his superb display in the midweek 2-0 win at Wigan Athletic with another impressive performance.

He played a leading role in Pool’s equaliser, playing an eye-catching 40-yard crossfield ball to Viv Solomon-Otabor, who skinned his man before delivering a cross for Nathan Delfouneso to bundle home at the back post.

“It was massive to get a result here on the back of Tuesday’s win,” Ryan added.

“You don’t want to let Tuesday’s win go to waste. It happens a lot that you beat a big side, then go and spoil it in the game after.

“But thankfully we dug in and got at least a point. Now we go to Portsmouth to try and turn this point into a good result.

“Our goal at the end of the first half takes you into the second half full of confidence.

“If we didn’t get that goal, we might have panicked and changed something.

“There wasn’t much in the first half. Yes, they got a goal but it wasn’t from much. They weren’t carving us open.

“Thankfully we went into the second half level, meaning we could focus on ourselves. That started to pay off.

“Unfortunately we could only pick up a point, which I think was the least we deserved. Now we move on to Saturday.”
