The Seasiders have taken four points out of a possible nine from their last three away games, but it is the manner of their displays which has pleased Bowyer the most.

Pool battled to a point at Charlton Athletic before Christmas courtesy of Clark Robertson’s last-minute equaliser, before starting 2018 with a battling 2-1 win at Rochdale.

They had a 1-0 defeat at Oxford United the last time they played away from home, but it was a game they dominated and ought to have won.

With AFC Wimbledon sat inside the bottom four and just five points off Blackpool in 16th, this could be considered a crucial game but Bowyer has played down that notion.

“It’s another game, it’s the same as the remaining 17,” he said.

“There is no such thing as a six-pointer, it’s three points up for grabs on Saturday and it’s three points for all the other games left after.

“What we’ve got to go and do is perform the way we’ve been performing.

“Charlton away, we’re fighting to the death and get an equaliser. Rochdale away we win and put in a hell of a second half performance and at Oxford we dominated and should have got more from it.

“That’s what we’ve got to go and do again. We’ve got to put all those three performances into this one.

“We’re coming up against a team who are competitive and do well with a wonderful manager in Neal Ardley.

“He’s an advert for bigger clubs ignoring younger British managers who have performed beyond his budget. You never hear his name getting linked. In my mind that’s wrong.

“The game earlier in the season was a tight one, it was a tough game (which Blackpool won 1-0).

“They’re competitive and I watched them last week against MK Dons and they were unlucky not to get the three points.

“We know it’s a tight ground there and it’s going to be a bit of an atmosphere, but we’ve just got to continue what we’ve been doing.”
