Blackpool boss not worried as scouts study Osayi-Samuel

Premier League scouts have been keeping an eye on some of Blackpool's young guns but that doesn't worry manager Gary Bowyer, who says the club must be doing something right to attract top-flight attention.

Scouts from Arsenal and Tottenham were reportedly at Tuesday’s 1-1 draw at Barnet to watch 18-year-old winger Bright Osayi-Samuel.

Bowyer says the club has received no approaches for any of his squad but he takes a realistic view that selling players is part and parcel of the game.

The Pool boss said: “My philosophy is simple – if people are coming to watch us, then it is a sign that we are doing something right and are helping players to progress. We have some good young players here and it does not surprise me.

“If there is a young player playing regular first-team football anywhere up or down the country, then the big boys have to do their job properly.

“Do I want to lose any of the players? No, but I realise we are in League Two, .

“But there is no club that is not a selling club anymore and that includes some of the Premier League boys too.

“Manchester United sold Christiano Ronaldo, Spurs sold Gareth Bale. That is part and parcel of the business we are in. We just have to deal with it.”

Blackpool go into today’s game with a 100 per cent home record following victories over Exeter on the opening day and Bolton in extra-time in the EFL Cup. Now Bowyer is keen to turn Bloomfield Road into a fortress.

He said: “You always like to win any game, but certainly you want good home form and we have made a good start here.

“We want to continue that and focus on trying to repeat the level of performance from the previous two home games.”
