Short, brother of former Blackburn Rovers and Derby County centre-half Craig, was most recently with Bradford City as the club’s fitness and conditioning coach.

Prior to that, he has also worked for Bolton Wanderers, Sheffield United, Blackburn, Crystal Palace, Derby County and Leicester City.

Pool boss Gary Bowyer said: "Chris is a great addition to the coaching staff, he has a wealth of experience working with some top managers and was a very good defender himself as a player.

"Chris has bags of enthusiasm and the players will enjoy working with him.

"He's someone that will bring new ideas and we look forward to working and learning from him."
