Barry Nicholson confident of a quiet deadline day at Fleetwood

Unlike Premier League and EFL clubs, those in Scotland can still make permanent deals and SPL club Hearts are rumoured to be contemplating a bid for centre-half Bolger, who has also been linked to Championship Hull City.

Town first-team coach Nicholson said: “At the minute we are looking at nothing being done. I can’t see that anything will get done from our point of view.

“We are really happy with the squad at the minute, so we have not really spoken about it.”

Nicholson, himself the subject of a £250,000 move from Dunfermline to Aberdeen in 2005, says he deals with the transfer window by getting on with his normal routine.

And the former midfielder, who turned 40 last week, says Town have players capable of making the step up to higher divisions.

He says the club is a great place for players to showcase their talents, with Jamie Vardy a Premier League winner and David Ball, Amari’i Bell, Chris Maxwell and Conor McLaughlin all moving on to the Championship.

And Nicholson believes Town have current players capable of following in their footsteps.

He said: “I can’t speak for other players but for me it was a case of, ‘Head down and get on with it’.

“If you are going to get your move, you get your move, it is as simple as that.

“If a team want you are going to pay money for you, they are going to keep coming, so you haven’t got to stamp your feet and demand a move or anything like that.

“If you play well, train properly and behave in the proper manner you will move on to better things. That is a fact.

“There are lads here we think have the capabilities of moving to a higher level but this is a great place to be.

“leetwood is a really good place to showcase their talent. If they do well here and do things properly, then other clubs will come calling.”

Ahead of tomorrow’s Highbury clash with Bradford, Nicholson says boss Joey Barton has a fully fit squad to select from.

He added: “We have a clean bill of health and everyone is looking for a starting place.”
